Education in Bahrain

Choosing where to study is of utmost importance because you do not want to miss out on quality education, and good career prospects. You might filter a handful of career options but how do you exactly know which one is the right one for you? Here, we are helping you to choose some of the best universities to study in Bahrain.

Why should you consider Bahrain as an option for higher studies?

Bahrain is an ideal country for you if you are someone who hates harsh winters. The weather is mostly warm throughout the year with mild winters from December to February. Moreover, it’s one of the safest countries in the world and a host to a wide variety of immigrants. Bahrain is particularly known for pearl diving, heritage forts, scenic landscapes, and a lot more.

It is more affordable to get a degree in Bahrain compared to other Western countries. The cost of living is also relatively lower as the government has subsidized rates on many amenities to a great extent.

Does Bahrain have a good education system?

According to UNESCO’s survey in 2015, Bahrain’s literacy rate is 99.77% which is one of the highest among the GCC countries. This is largely because of the strict education laws in Bahrain making education compulsory for children from age 6 to 15. Public education is also made free up to secondary school.

Which are the best Universities in Bahrain?

When it comes to choosing a university in Bahrain, you can never run out of options.  The four main public universities are the University of Bahrain, Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain Polytechnic, and College of Health Sciences.

Out of these, the University of Bahrain has been ranked as one of the top universities in QS World University Rankings and also has an overall score of 3.8 stars.

Those who want to enroll in private universities also have options like Ahlia University, Arab Open University, Gulf University, Medical University of Bahrain, and Royal University for Women.

When you consider the Tuition fees for an academic year, it is as low as $6,630 for international students.

Which are the best locations you can choose?

The first option is definitely Manama, which is Bahrain’s capital and home to most of the expatriates. Manama is a very easy city to settle in and close to all the basic facilities like hospitals, schools, police stations, etc.  You can find accommodation at the cheapest rates to expensive ones according to your needs. You can also travel to nearby cities within minutes. If you are looking for sightseeing, Manama doesn’t disappoint you that way too. You can visit historic sites like Bahrain Fort, Bab Al Bahrain, Al Fateh Grand Mosque, Al Khamis Mosque, and Bahrain National Museum.

Now, if you are in the mood for some water sports, you can visit Wahooo! Waterpark, the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park, or Beach Culture.

The second option is Muharraq which is known for its markets, heritage, and classical music. One more brownie point because it’s close to the airport. One of the most famous man-made islands, Amwaj Island is also situated in Muharraq.

The third option is Qudaibiya, offering homes from 1BHK to 3BHK at very affordable prices. It is also one of the prime locations and home to many new arrivals in Bahrain.

From creating significant improvements in the education industry to introducing better universities and facilities for students, Bahrain has definitely come a long way. This also hints at a promising future for both Bahrain students as well as international students in the coming years.
